I would like to tell you about a new band I discovered not so long ago. Yuca is the name of the band, and they come from Canada. The first song I heard on their myspace page, was " This Isn't Over Yet",and I can tell you I got chills when I heard it =) Singer Matt Borck have this unique and powerful voice , that you don't hear so often theese days. These guys are gonna be Huge, I can tell you =) I'm glad that I discovered them... I've talked to Matt via email , and I will buy their debut CD now from them , I will come back with a review and some more stuff about this wonderful band from Canada later on ! Once again, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR THEESE GUYS! THEY ROCK ;)

In April of this year - YUCA was again crowned the Best Band in Western Canada winning the coveted title from the Pontiac “Battle of the Bands” at this year’s TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler, BC Canada (Home of the 2010 Olympics) competing against the handpicked “10 Top bands” around including some from major labels.

YUCA has shared the stage with many brilliant bands like: Lifehouse on their Canadian LiveNation tour dates, The Killers, AFI, Metric and Hot Hot Heat at Virgin Fest, Billy Talent, Theory of a Deadman and Armchair Cynics at Fox Fest as well as Kim Mitchell at the Cascades Casino, blowing the crowds away with their live performance. The band was also asked to be the only opening band to play with Econoline Crush on their Vancouver Island Tour and has performed Live on Global TV with an overwhelming response from fans. In the bands experience, the fans are looking for melody, lyrics they can relate to, relevancy and a band that puts on a great live experience - YUCA is continually striving to be all of that and more.

Singer Matt Borck made the commitment to music after declining to pursue a pro soccer career, while also flirting with the big-time skateboarding scene. Along with his equally talented band mates, Matt has created nothing less than a total YUCA aesthetic, which encompasses music, design and an enthusiastic approach to the challenges of the current music business that focuses on independence, innovation and a "why not?" attitude.

With a full album of intense, infectious and brilliantly recorded tracks in the can (produced by John MacLean with the band and mastered by George Marino) YUCA's a band on a mission. "This project was started out of curiosity. I love curious things.. Ouija boards, Music boxes, Old photographs, Carousels, Clowns, Steam engines, Dolls.. even Qabalah, Sephardic culture, Persian history, Bulgarian folk music etc etc. I suffer badly from Nostalgia!! So I uploaded a couple of rough tunes here on myspace and then things became even more curious when a few dear people insisted that rather than spend my days doing curious things such as frequenting the circus, walking through quiet graveyards, exploring abandoned buildings, creeping through the deserted streets of Leeds at 3:12am or trying to master the art of the Yaki Soba... They suggested I should take some time out to finish an album. I did.. and it’s turned into quite a curiosity. It reminds me of silent films, of romantic séances, of alter egos and dusty roads to nowhere."

“There is something reassuringly old fashioned about A Cuckoo, a singular individual who dwells on the Yorkshire Moors and has a fixation with sepia-toned Edwardiana, music boxes and the like… MOJO would like to add that we hope that A Cuckoo’s forthcoming album will be available on 78. By the age of 17 A Cuckoo had already played in respected UK bands Blue Aeroplanes and House of Love. In his early 20s he started to create and produce his own music. In the meantime he ended up working nearly full time as a composer for the BBC, which is where he “learnt how to orchestrate and paint sonic pictures.”

Quietly A Cuckoo began putting some of the rough ideas that he was developing up on MySpace.. The page quickly began to gather a list of complimentary comments and was visited by A Girl called Eddy (former Le Grand Magistery recording artist, currently signed to Anti), who asked what the situation was with the release of his material. “Um, they’re only rough snippets!” replied A Cuckoo, so A Girl Called Eddy put him in touch with Matthew Jacobson from Le Grand Magistery who insisted he finish the album so he could release it.

The result is ‘Destination Unknown’. A magical and dusty esoteric mix of styles that seems to effortlessly project a work of humble yet visionary compositions and poetry. Filled with music boxes, accordions, mandolins, bells, a quartet, acoustic guitars, and endless melody.

I followed this guy for over one year on his myspace page, and I highly recomend this album ! Just wonderful !=)

Brett Dennen ( Oakdale, California ,USA)

In 2004, Dennen released his first self-titled album, Brett Dennen. His second album was So Much More , which includes the singles "Ain't No Reason", "She's Mine", and "Darlin' Do Not Fear". A few songs charted as iTunes top downloads in the days following the album's release in November 2006. Dennen also contributed a cover of "Private Life" to the 2006 tribute album Drink To Bones That Turn To Dust: A Toast To Oingo Boingo..

Dennen's music has been featured in several television shows, including Grey's Anatomy, House, The Unit and Scrubs. In addition to television series, Dennen's music has also been used in national advertising campaigns for companies such as Hilton Hotels.

He has toured extensively across the U.S. with his band , supporting such musicians as John Mayer. In 2007 he toured with Guster and singer-songwriters Meiko and Joshua James.

Dennen has been a part of The Mosaic Project, San Francisco Bay Area based nonprofit, since its inception. The Mosaic Project works towards a peaceful future by uniting young children of diverse backgrounds, providing them with essential skills to thrive in an increasingly diverse society, and empowering them to strive for peace. As The Mosaic Project's Resident Rock Star, Dennen created an original musical curriculum for the program, in 2003. It won a Children's Music Web 2004 Award and a Parent's Choice 2004 Approved Award.

In November, 2007, Dennen was named as one of Rolling Stone Magazine's "10 Artists To Watch.

The Blizzards ( Mullingar, Ireland)

The Blizzards' indepedently-released debut single "First Girl to Leave Town" went to No. 11 in the Irish Charts in 2005. In July of that year, the band performed at the Oxegen festival. The following year the band signed a recording contract with Universal Music , Ireland with the band's second single "Trouble" reaching No. 6 in the Irish Single Charts in spring 2006. The single stayed in the Top 40 for four weeks. Follow-up singles "Miss Fantasia Preaches" and "War of Words" were released in August and October 2006 respectively. The Blizzards returned to Oxegen in July 2006, moving up the billing to perform on the NME scene.

The band's debut album, A Public Display of Affection, was released in November 2006 and debuted at no. 4 in the Irish Album Charts. Although critical responses to the album were generally positive, the album remained in the Top 50 for only three weeks. However, the band's growing popularity saw the album re-enter the charts early in 2007. A Public Display of Affection reached No. 21 in the Irish Albums Chart and remained in the Top 50 for eighteen weeks from January to June 2007. Two further singles, "Fantasy" and "On the Right Track" were released in 2007 before a Main Stage appearance on the Sunday Of Oxegen.

In late June 2008, the band confirmed via their official website that work on their second album had been completed. Produced once again by Michael Beinhorn, The Domino Effect was released on the 12th September, with a single entitled "Trust Me I'm A Doctor" released in July. The single, alongside other new and old material as well as a cover of Sam Sparrow's " Black And Gold", was performed during their July 13 hour-long set on the Main Stage of Oxegen 2008.

The Blizzards released their second album, The Domino Effect on 15 September 2008 to mostly postive reviews stating the album "does a concrete job in guiding the sextet through their new-found maturity". The album peaked at #2 on the Irish Album Charts, losing out to Metallica's Death Magnetic. The lead single from the album, " Trust Me , I'm A Doctor"" was released on 29 August 2008 and debuted at #2, again just being beaten to the top spot, this time by the Katy Perry single " IO Kissed A Girl". "Trust Me, I'm a Doctor" remained in the Top Ten for 4 weeks before dropping down to #13 on 10 October. The second single from the band's sophomore album will be "The Reason".

Birds Of Tokyo ( Perth, Western , Australia )

Birds of Tokyo formed from a collaboration between members of other well known Perth acts including Karnivool and Tragic Delicate. Birds of Tokyo's music marries soaring vocal melodies with catchy rock based guitar hooks and a driving rhythm section, the live show is filled with an energy as raw and exposing as it is energetic, emotive and fun.

Birds of Tokyo were formed in 2004 and despite the relatively short life time of the band they have already established themselves as one of Perth's premier rock bands, regularly playing their own headlining shows at packed venues such as Amplifier, Rosemount Hotel, Metros Fremantle and Capitol.

The band have toured nationally several times and been featured in media including Xpress, Zebra Hype, Adrenaline Zine, Beat Magazine and Base TV. 2006 saw the band touring regional WA on a three week tour in January, before returning to Melbourne to finish working on their debut album, Day One . The album was released on 3 February 2007 and debuted at #88 on the ARIA album charts and #3 on the AIR album charts. Following the release the band embarked on their 'Day One' tour in February 2007 played in five capital cities around Australia.

At the 2007 Wami Awards Birds of Tokyo won two WAMingtons for 'Favourite Newcomer' and 'Best Male Vocalist' (Ian Kenny).

In April 2007 the band played at Blackjack 2007 (relocated "Rock - It" festival) and then undertook another national tour in support of their debut album.

Birds of Tokyo were nominated for two awards in the 2007 AIR Awards (Australian Independent Record Association) for 'Best Performing Independent Album' and 'Most Outstanding New Independent Artist'.

The band recorded their second album Universes in Australia, which was mixed in Los Angeles, California. The debut single from the album, "Silhouettic", was released as a free download on 14 April 2008. The album was released 5 July 2008 and debuted at No. 3 on the ARIA album charts and at No. 1 on the AIR album charts.

Lovedrug ( Cleveland, Ohio , USA)

Lovedrug is an indie rock band from Canton, Ohio, formed in 2001.
Since Lovedrug's formation in 2001, they have released two full-length albums and three EPs, all of which have been released through the record label The Militia Group to whom they are signed. While on tour with Straylight Run and Sparta in June 2007, Lovedrug's van and trailer was stolen in Detroit, Michigan. The burnt out shell of their van and trailer was later discovered with all of their equipment stolen. Despite this discouraging and unfortunate event, Lovedrug continued their tour, borrowing Sparta's equipment for the rest of the shows.
Their third album, The Sucker Punch Show, will be released October 28,2008.

From what I've heard from the new album , this album gonna be one of the best in 2008 !

The band's line-up did not come together in early 2006 as recently speculated, but however back in 2000. After gigging around Scotland, mostly Glasgow (Where they were played glasgow Barfly dozens of times) a friend of theirs approached Alan Mcgee at Death Disco and asked him to check out their friends band "Glasvegas". At first he paid no attention, inyet the friend approached him several times, eventually Alan had a listen to the band and has backed them ever since. On October 30, 2006, the band released their first self funded limited edition 7" single, "Go Square Go!". Following the release of second limited edition 7" single, "Daddy's Gone" in November 2007, Glasvegas found themselves at the centre of a bidding war from several major record labels. "Daddy's Gone" sold out and was voted the Number #2 single of the year by the NME.

After releasing third limited edition 7" single, "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry" on February 14, 2008 the band opted to sign for Columbia. They then won the prestigious Philip Hall Radar Award at the NME Awards two weeks later. Glasvegas recorded their eponymous debut album at Brooklyn Recording Studios in New York, produced by James Allan and Rich Costey. The album will be released on 8 September 2008, and will include re-recordings of "Daddy's Gone" and "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry", the former being the second single from the album, as well as previously unreleased songs "Polmont On My Mind", "Dream, Dream, Dreaming", "Lonesome Swan", "Sad Lite" and "Geraldine", which was the debut single from the album.

A New Honour is an emerging alternative rock band from Winnipeg, Canada that came together in September 2006. A line up change of the original three members forced the band to regroup and begin tracking their debut record at Studio 11 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Thirty-six songs were narrowed down to 14 for the debut album “The Untitled Truce”. The album spawned their charting single “Artificial” which landed them a spot on two radio station compilation CD’s, “Power 97’s Class of 2007” and “Freq 107’s Local Heroes Frequency Vol.1.” The music can be best described as melodic alternative rock. The name sums it all up and describes the band’s attitude towards making music. The Windupdeads ( Stockholm, Sweden)

The Windupdeads formed in the summer of 2007, Rickard Olsen (lead vocals, guitar), Jonas Westholm (bass) and Marcus von Boisman (drums, backing vocals) previously played together in a project called froid. After bringing in Petter Ingman on guitar, The Windupdeads emerged. They have spent the fall of 2007 recording an album that will be released october 7, 2008 by One Eleven Records. Their song Reverse of Shade has recently gained attention through the television series Gossip Girl and a full length version of the song will be included on their debut album. Really awesome songs !=)

Axle Whitehead ( Melbourne, Australia)

Axle Whitehead was originally a contestant on the first series of Australian Idol in 2003. He failed to win the competition but made it into the top twenty. After being spotted on Idol, he was hired to host the Television music show, Video Hits on Network Ten, hosting from 2004 to November 1, 2006.
On October 29, 2006, while at the ARIA's, Whitehead was on-stage presenting an award to hip-hop outfit Hilltop Hoods with radio jock Jabba, when he exposed his penis on stage. He also simulated masturbation on the ARIA trophy as the winners made their way to the stage. The Daily Telegraph later reported that Whitehead and his long time girlfriend Katrina Peden had broken up days before the ARIA incident, possibly explaining his behaviour. It was also rumoured in the industry that it was an ongoing dare, between himself, Jabba and Johnny Knoxville, though Whitehead denied the claim. He later said that he had no regrets about the incident, and thought that "more people should do it.Network Ten announced on November 2, 2006 that Whitehead resigned as host of Video Hits on November 1, 2006.
Axle Whitehead's debut album, Losing Sleep was released through Roadshow Music on August 22nd 2008. His debut single "I Don't Do Surprises" was released on radio during January 2008, debuting at #8 on the ARIA Charts in Australia on March 17, 2008. It has also received airplay on Nova radio and surfaced on TV advertisements for popular Channel 10 shows House and Women's Murder Club, being described as a cross between Coldplay and Robbie Williams. Whitehead made his return to Video Hits on February 24, 2008, though only as a guest to promote his announced debut album.

The Primary 5 (Bellshill/Glasgow, Scotland/UK)

The third album from the Primary 5, High Five finds singer/songwriter Paul Quinn in a contemplative mood, questioning whether he should even keep going with this music thing. Although his knack for crafting perfectly sunny pop melodies is still in full bloom, many of these songs, whether about a relationship or his music career, reveal Quinn as a troubled daydream believer always on the verge of packing it all in. On the title track he sings, "Man, if you could only feel, the shadow that is over me. I'm feeling the strain and I don't know what to do." Such fatalistic notions aren't too surprising if you know something about Quinn's time after leaving his post as the drummer for the Scottish rock stalwarts the Teenage Fanclub in 2001. Purportedly, Quinn worked as a mailman in a bid to leave the music biz altogether. It was a sentiment he apparently returned to in 2007 after he parted ways with bandmate Ryan Currie and once again made gestures toward disbanding Primary 5.Thankfully, the daydreamer had a change of heart and plunged headlong into recording High Five. Recorded at former the Darkness-guitarist Dan Hawkins' Leeders Farm Studios in rural Norfolk, England, High Five is a deeply personal, heartfelt, and musically lush work that builds upon all of Quinn's innate strengths as a melodic pop craftsman while also stretching the admittedly low-key Scot into more sonically expansive and ambitious sounds that bring to mind the moody, baritone guitar soundscapes of Ennio Morricone. Joining Quinn here is guitarist (and former fellow Soup Dragons member) Jim McCulloch who adds much of this spaghetti western twang. Which isn't to say that High Five is all whip cracks and crooked smiles; on the contrary, Quinn mixes in such sleight of hand campiness alongside driving power pop numbers and layered, Baroque pop gems. Interestingly, much as spaghetti westerns work as post-modern histories of the old west as remembered by fans of films about the old west, High Five is a kind of post-modern classicist pop album about classicist pop by a guy who grew up loving classicist pop. Crystallizing this notion at the center of the album is the pure ode to rock music "Lost and Confused" in which Quinn plays out the meeting between artist and fan. He sings, "Hey man it's so good to meet you. I love your records. I love your songs. I feel like I have always known you. Since way back when, you weren't so cool. Now, you're number one." And continues, "You are the sun. You are the moon. I love the things you do. Or, is this an excuse?" The implication is that no matter how amazing the music is, no matter how much it means to you at that moment, somebody is probably wasting their time. And as the song drives on with Quinn's insistent catchy hook you begin to wonder if he's talking to himself. And yet, High Five is anything but a waste of time. In fact, Quinn is a master of stopping time in the way only great pop songwriters can with a melody that grabs your lips or a harmony that tugs at your guts and gives you goose bumps and a lyric that defines exactly the way you feel right now and again. If a lot of contemporary pop music is leaden, fabricated product that can make you forget why you ever liked music in the first place, Quinn's High Five is a deeply affirmative, hand on the back reminder of why a well-constructed pop song with a hook and a simple truthful message is perhaps all you ever need. 4/5 STARS. ~AMG~

No respite for the listener here, the experience is total.From gripping beginning to grandiose end, this voyage through eleven songs transports us in an impressionist soundscape, where unbridled imagination, open emotion and gleeful sarcasm colour an ethereal and melodious music. And stylistically speaking, “Beautiful Explosion ” is certainly audacious, as Plajia infuses its atmospheric rock with brit-music references, psychedelic accents and eccentric arrangements, the whole with a pop focus and technical mastery.After having won the 2004 edition of Virée chaosphonique and finished first at the Bluetracks.ca MP3 Contest in 2006, Plajia has recently been nominated with “Beautiful Explosion ” for the Grand Prix de la relève Archambault 2008. Now, and in the words of the great Gerald Levert, Plajia hopes to “pop pop pop” Montreal, but that decision lies with a very wise and humourful hipster wearing checkered Converses.

The Beep Seals formed many moons ago thanks to a mutual admiration of each other and a shared love of various things predominantly the rock band Pavement, visionary demi-god Todd Rundgren, the Animal Collective, long walks on rainy days, the sound of a really good fuzz pedal and the Beatles (obviously). Spending 2007 touring some of the world and cultivating a fearsome live reputation centred around the best drummer since Animal from the Muppets and vocal harmonies that'd make Brian Wilson punch Carl in the face; the Beeps somehow managed to release two sold out singles aswell...amazing right? Both slices of pure psych-slacker pop, cherished by the lucky few who managed to bag a copy, particularly a handful of girls currently camped outside keyboard player Phil's house waving lewd banners.

Moi Caprice is an indie rock band from Denmark. Current members are Michael Møller, David Brunsgaard, Jakob Millung, and Casper Henning Hansen. The band, formed as early as 1993 as Concrete Puppet Frog, rose to visibility in 1997 as the first unsigned band to top the Danish alternative music charts in 1997, despite the lack of a released studio album. The band has remained active, releasing three albums beginning in 2003, and by touring internationally, including performances in Canada and Vietnam.
Their third album, released in 2006, earned them four Critics Award nominations and two nominations for Danish Music Awards, and they won the prize for best band at the Danish critics award, Steppeulven.

Following tours of local venues throughout the UK, and several line-up changes, Hamfatter signed to Pink Hedgehog Records in 2003.
Hamfatter's first official album, Fireworks (April 2004), enjoyed moderate success - particularly in and around Cambridge, where the band had built up a following. The album exhibits several different styles.
Hamfatter's next release, Girls in Graz (May 2006), continued to raise the band's UK profile. The title track received radio-play and became a surprise hit in Austria, and two European tours followed. During this time Intim Productions of Vienna produced a DVD featuring live performances, interviews and a video for the song "Fireworks".
In June 2006 Hamfatter were booked to headline the main stage at Strawberry Fair, Cambridge's summer festival. For this performance in front of an audience of several thousand, the usual three-piece line-up was enhanced by a horn section and double bass. This larger line-up has featured at most of the band's subsequent performances.
Hamfatter recorded their third studio album, entitled What Part of Hamfatter Do You Not Understand?, in summer 2007. Its lead single, "Sziget (We Get Wrecked)", reached 13 in the UK indie charts, and 54 in the UK singles charts.
NME wrote a review in 2007 saying "Hamfatter carry an arsenal of power-pop nuggets including the amazing 'Sziget' which deserves to be a hit."

The band appeared on the UK edition of Dragon's Den on BBC2 on 21 July 2008, where they performed an extract from "Sziget (We Get Wrecked)" in an attempt to secure a £75,000 investment as an alternative to a standard record deal. After offers from four of the five potential investors, they agreed a deal with Peter Jones.
The following day, Peter Jones appeared on The Chris Moyles Show on BBC Radio 1 and Hamfatter's next single "The Girl I Love" was previewed. It was then announced that the song is available to download now and will be available to buy physically on August 11, 2008. Within one hour of their appearance on Dragons Den, the single had sold 500 copies via downloads, with a further 1,000 selling later that night. On the UK Singles Chart published on July 27, 2008, the song entered at #71.

The Stills are a Canadian rock band. Four of the band members, Tim Fletcher, Dave Hamelin, Liam O'Neil and Olivier Corbeil, have known each other since around the age of 12 and played in various bands prior to forming The Stills in 2000. The band members are art students from Montreal, Quebec. On a two-month trip to New York City, they recorded several songs with the help of a four-track recorder. According to rumour, the four-track recorder was given to them after helping a friend in Barcelona who needed drug money. After landing a record deal, they began working on an EP entitled Rememberese EP which was released on June 17, 2003. Their debut album Logic Will Break Your Heart was released later that year, and touring with Interpol and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs gained them a steady following. Their latest album, Without Feathers, was released May 9, 2006 on Vice Records. They supported Kings of Leon on their UK spring tour in 2007.
They signed with Arts & Crafts for the release of their upcoming third album, Oceans Will Rise. A new song is available for streaming from their website, along with a looping video credited to Gordon Hull.
On May 29, 2008, according to Spin magazine's website, their third album entitled Oceans Will Rise is due out August 19.
On July 20, 2008 they played to a crowd of over 250000 in Quebec City, opening for Paul McCartney.

Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong ( London,UK)

The band formed in late-2006 initially calling themselves Joe Lean and The Tantrums. Following a name change to Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, they played their first gig in January 2007 and released début single Lucio Starts Fires on October 8. In the same year, the band supported Babyshambles, Dizzee Rascal, Cansei de Ser Sexy and Kaiser Chiefs, and completed their first headlining tour across the UK in December. At the end of the year, the band were placed number 7 on the BBC's Sound of 2008 poll.

Lead singer, Joe Lean (Joe Beamont), also acts under the name Joe Van Moyland and was drummer with The Pipettes until June 2007. He has played Jamie Chapman in Peep Show and Thomas Tallis in The Tudors.

Guitarist Tommy D (Thomas Dougall) is the brother of Rose Dougall, formerly of The Pipettes. Drummer (James Craig) has also been a stand-in drummer for The Pipettes and has also drummed for The Sigma. He is brother of George Craig from One Night Only. The band also features Dominic O'Dair on guitar and the Panda on bass.

In 2008, Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong supported The Cribs on the 2008 NME Awards Tour, and showcased their sound at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. The band announced their biggest UK headlining tour to date, playing 25 gigs throughout April and May. Their second single, "Lonely Buoy", was released on 10 March 2008, with reports by NME saying that they are currently recording an album with producer John Cornfield. A third single, Where Do You Go was released in June.

They played at the Glastonbury Festival 2008, despite their name erroneously appearing as "Joe Ling and the Jing Jang Jong" on the line-up.

Their debut, self-titled album was originally due to be released on the 4 August 2008, however this release was scrapped as the album 'didn't represent their current sound'. Copies had already been sent to critics, with the likes of NME giving it 8/10. The album will be re-recorded with a view to release the album in 2009.

F*****G AWESOME BAND ! GONNA BE HUGE !

JYROJETS are one of the most heavily tipped bands around, with shed-loads of great press. The Sun named them as one of the seven hottest up- and- coming bands of 2008, and ran a full page story about their US tour.
The bad lads’ anthem ‘Favourite Thing About Jane’ / ‘I Don’t Think You Hurt’ was released on 14 May on CD single, 7” vinyl and download. XFM called it a ‘Britpop Anthem’, Jonathan Ross and Stephen Merchant are fans and the single was featured as a ‘Hottest download’ in The Sunday Times.
The video shoot for 'Jane' was crazy – the crowd rushed the stage, equipment went flying and it all ended with Chris and Colin buried under a pile of bodies! The Director was freaking out and ended the shoot early for fear of serious injuries.
The San Francisco Chronicle called Jyrojets: “ the best kept secret at South by Southwest’ after their shows in Texas in March. US station ME TV filmed a performance and it was broadcast throughout the SXSW festival. The band returned to the US in April for a 2 month BBC BritBus Tour, which took them coast to coast, from San Francisco to New York, in a red, double-decker London bus. The bus turned heads everywhere.
With a top speed of 45mph (downhill), the bus was customised complete with plasma screens and a bar with Bass on tap! The tour hit 15 cities, along with a couple of non-scheduled stops for the odd blow out (windows as well as tyres!). They played 50 gigs, surviving extreme desert temperatures with no air-con on the bus, tropical storms and some of the country’s less salubrious motels, but despite some hardships they had the best 8 weeks of their lives. They appeared on many TV and radio shows on route and sometimes played several gigs a night, returning home a much tighter and more confident band.
Jyrojets released their debut EP in November 06 and The Guardian raved about 'I Had Something Wonderful': "a spiralling guitar riff The Edge or Johnny Marr would kill for, a sublime anthem". The lead track, ‘Dead on Arrival’, is being featured on the soundtrack of a feature film titled '20 Cigarettes', recently shot in Russia.. The 3rd track on the EP was 'All The Rage'.
The week their EP was released, Jyrojets opened for Richard Ashcroft at Glasgow’s SECC in front of 10,000 people. Richard personally chose them, and called them “a great young band” during his encore (he watched their performance from the side of the stage). The band had already bought tickets to the show, never dreaming they would be supporting him. It was their biggest gig to date. Scottish TV were there, an interview and performance clips were broadcast on the STV News.
Some live acoustic sets followed for BBC Radio Scotland, who introduced them as “a band on the cusp of greatness”, XFM Scotland and Janice Long's Radio 2 show. Janice emailed the band afterwards:
"Thank you so much for doing such a top set..the listeners were mad for you. We were absolutely inundated with enquiries about you. Don't forget us when you are huge! I can't thank you enough . ....Lots of love...Janice x"

The last Jyrojets headline gig in Inverness was a complete riot, with about 1,000 fans filling The IronWorks. The band have already headlined the BBC Radio Scotland stage at the Belladrum Festival, supported Dirty Pretty Things, The Kaiser Chiefs and The Ordinary Boys, played festivals in Spain and Moscow with live radio and TV broadcasts across Russia. Their music has been described as a heavy kick of Nirvana with Simon & Garfunkel harmonies, Beatles melodies and plenty of attitude, which pretty much sums up their diverse influences.
It all started when Colin and Martin were 14. While hanging out, drinking a bottle of Buckfast in a bus shelter, listening to Nirvana with one earphone each, the boys decided to start a band. The two set about writing songs and, after a few years of trying out various line-ups, they finally hooked up with guitarist Chris Bain after seeing him play at a party. Their search for a drummer proved more difficult, until one day: “We were just wandering round Culloden and through an open window we heard someone banging a drum kit really loudly. It sounded great so we knocked on the door, and Veeb answered. We asked him if he wanted to join the band and he just said “Aye” . Dougie Edwards completed the line-up on bass.
After just a month of rehearsing 7 nights a week at the local ice rink, they recorded a demo and entered a competition for a chance to play at T in the Park. They were chosen to appear at King Tuts in Glasgow for the T-break heats – not bad for their first gig! They didn’t know the T-break promoters had sent their demo to Radio 1, so it was a bit of a shock to hear it on air.
Their big break came in 2005 when a demo track was chosen for inclusion on a CD featuring unsigned bands from Scotland, compiled by Highlands & Islands Enterprise and distributed to the industry by Music Week. Songphonic Records were excited by the demos and flew from London to Inverness to see a gig. They were blown away by the live show. They then flew the band down to jam in their studio, and at dinner that night a 4-album deal was struck. The band all ordered burgers, and when asked how he would like his cooked, Chris replied with a straight face,

"Dunno. Have you got a microwave? That'll do". The waiter was speechless.
The band had often been told they would never get a deal unless they moved out of the Highlands, but they have proved anything is possible if you have the talent. Incredibly, they are the first band from Inverness ever to sign a major record deal.
Jyrojets were a great hit at the Musexpo Showcase in May when they played to a packed room at The Roxy in Hollywood. They said it was a great buzz to finally perform "Hollywood, Hold On" there. The track was released as a single on 10th September. The video, their third Directed by Cavan McLauglin, features their journey to Hollywood on the BritBus. Their debut was released June 2008.

Good Old War is made up of Keith Goodwin, Daniel Schwartz, and Tim Arnold. The band was started after Days Away (the old band of Keith and Tim) went on hiatus. They recorded some demos for free in a late night session at a recording studio. They have played with Anthony Green on a short stint of dates along the east coast and also at the South By Southwest (SXSW) festival in Texas, as Anthony’s backing band. They are currently on Sargent House, a label which also serves as a management company whose roster includes: RX Bandits, These Arms are Snakes, Maps & Atlases, Daughters, Love You Moon, Red Sparowes, Tera Melos, Russian Circles, and Nurses. The band recorded their debut album in May 2008 in Los Angeles, with producer Rick Parker who also produced the final EP from Days Away entitled Ear Candy For The Head Phone Trippers. Good Old War recorded Anthony Green's album Avalon with him as his band, and will be performing as his band in addition to playing direct support as Good Old War, with Person L (a project featuring Kenny Vasoli of the Starting Line) for a nationwide headlining tour that begins August 6th through September 14th, 2008. Anthony Green makes a guest vocal appearance on the track Weak Man along with Dave Davison from the band Maps & Atlases who plays a guest guitar solo also on Weak Man.

When The Features signed to Universal Records in 2004, no one was surprised. They’d appeared on the Murfreesboro scene a decade earlier with an invigorating, quirky pop sound that lent itself to easy crowd participation with rowdy sing-alongs and whimsical handclaps. Immensely likable and talented, they were shoo-ins for local band most likely to succeed. So when news spread that the band were dropped in just under a year, fans were shocked. Sparking weeks of message-board rants and raves, the cause for the drop split their loyal following along the increasingly blurred line between art and commerce. The band had refused to cover a song for a commercial. The commercial? Chase Credit Cards. The song? The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love.”From the cheap seats, it looked like the band might have shot themselves in the foot. In an age of MySpace, digital downloads and band branding, the formula for success is murkier than ever, and musicians are advised not to be too picky about who signs their paychecks. Artists must be shrewd businesspeople always looking for the next promotional opportunity, whether it’s ringtones, clothing lines or product endorsements, and commercial placement has both launched new careers and salvaged old ones. But The Features dug in their heels and opted not to take the money and run.

'All I Can' is everything you might want from a pop song, and damn, these boys know a thing or two about a pop song. Both super upbeat and touching- it depicts a young mans plight to 'get the girl' - "you're dazzlingy pretty, sparkle in the city, I'm doing all I can".
To complement the bands debut album campaign, they have secured two of the best and most sought after artists to design their artwork Mr Pete Fowler and Mark James (SFA, Magic Numbers, Monsterism, Gruff Rhys) have put pen to paper (or actually paint to wood) and created 12 beautifully and individually cartooned Russian Dolls that will each, in turn, feature on single and album sleeves. Each doll represents a track on the album!

Paperlung formed in late August 2005 when Sice (ex-Boo Radleys) met bass player Simon Gardiner in a bar at Victoria Station. While waiting for trains, they chatted about music and suchlike and decided there and then to form a new band. Simon roped in Ben Datlen - an old friend - to play guitar while Sice sought out Guillaume Jambel and brokered a loan deal with his band Transcargo. Eight weeks later they played their first gig. . .Sice, the former Boo Radleys lead singer has come out of retirement with the announcement of a forthcoming album – his first in nine years.The Boo Radleys split up in 1999 after a decade of mixed success. They found massive popularity during the height of Britpop with their '96 album 'Wake Up!' on the back of catchy summer hit 'Wake Up Boo!'After the band's critically and commercially panned final two albums 'C'mon Kids' and 'Kingsize' - Sice vowed to retire and never come back to the industry.

....of a revolution (or O.A.R.) is an American rock band consisting of Marc Roberge (vocals, guitar), Chris Culos (drums, percussion), Richard On (guitar, backing vocals), Benj Gershman (bass guitar), Jerry DePizzo (saxophone, guitar, backing vocals). Due to massive online distribution over campus networks, the band has become a hit among college students, with many songs relating to the band members' personal lives at The Ohio State University (Columbus) and growing up in Rockville, Maryland.

O.A.R. has just announced their full summer tour. Their tour will be called "All Sides Tour" and began June 15 in Manchester, TN at Bonnaroo and will conclude August 31 at the Gorge as an opening act for Dave Matthews Band. On June 16, the band played a live interactive show at DeepRockDrive in advance of the launch of their new album "All Sides".
It has been officially announced by the band that their album "All Sides" will be out July 15. The first radio single is called "Shattered" and will be available to be downloaded June 13th.
In June of 2008 the band's song "This Town" off their forthcoming album "All Sides" was used extensively by ESPN during its coverage of the 2008 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament and College World Series.

Jeremy Larson began his musical endeavors as a classical music performance major and started to get a local following in his hometown of Springfield, Missouri with the circulation of his “Red and Blue” EP. He performed for the first time in 2003 to a packed ballroom of fans in Springfield and is now getting ready to release his first full length album entitled “Cold.” His songs are piano driven with inspiration taken from French impressionistic and electronic music, which blend together to create a sound unlike any sound out there today. Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s are a musical collective from Indianapolis, Indiana. In an interview with Cincinnati’s WOXY, Margot bandleader Richard Edwards jested that their moniker comes from his daughter Margot (he doesn't have a daughter) and his enjoyment of president George W. Bush's pronunciation of the word “nuclear". There was also speculation it was named after a girl he met in California, mysteriously referred to as "Margot E.". In reality, the band is called Margot after Gwyneth Paltrow's character in the Wes Anderson film The Royal Tenenbaums.
The band's sound, categorized as "chamber pop", has been compared to the indie rock groups Arcade Fire, The Decemberists, and The Shins, while incorporating elements of singer/songwriters like Paul Simon and Conor Oberst.

Noah and the Whale are a folk rock band from Twickenham, London, England formed in 2006.
The band consists of Charlie (vocals, guitar), Doug (drums), Tom (fiddle), and Matt (bass), and after a handful of singles, are due to release their first album, Peaceful The World Lays Me Down in August 2008. Laura Marling was a member of the band before going solo, although she continued to perform with the band occasionally. The band cite both punk rock and folk as influences, and are big fans of The Smiths.

Black Kids are an American indie pop band who formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 2006. Rolling Stone called them one of ten "Artists to Watch" in 2008 and they were also included in the BBC Top 10 Sound of 2008 poll. Their debut album, Partie Traumatic, was released in July 2008.

Black Kids formed in March 2006. The band consists of Reggie Youngblood on guitar and vocals, Owen Holmes on bass guitar, Kevin Snow on drums, Dawn Watley on keyboards and vocals, and Reggie's sister Ali Youngblood also on keyboards and vocals. They started out by playing shows in Jacksonville, often as a supporting act for more well-known indie bands coming through town.
The band received national attention after a breakout performance at the Athens Popfest in Athens, Georgia on August 11, 2007, which led to a sudden flurry of coverage in the music press, including NME, Vice, The Guardian, and The Village Voice. The same month, Black Kids' demo EP, Wizard of Ahhhs, was released via free download on their MySpace page. The EP received a favorable review of 8.4 out of 10 from Pitchfork Media, including a "Best New Music" commendation. In September, Black Kids began working with Quest Management, the company that manages Björk and Arcade Fire. At this time they also launched their official website, where they offered their EP as a free download for several months.
Black Kids participated in the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City in October, earning the band exposure in The New York Times and USA Today. In December the band travelled to London for a brief tour. Rolling Stone called them one of ten "Artists to Watch" in 2008 and the band was also included in the BBC Sound of 2008 poll.
Black Kids toured the United Kingdom in early 2008, including the Vice Live Tour with Friendly Fires and Ipso Facto, a Sons and Daughters tour, and a Kate Nash tour. They performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California in April and Radio 1's Big Weekend in May. They are also slated to appear at T in the Park in Scotland and Camp Bestival in England in July. In April and May, Black Kids toured the United States as an opening act for Cut Copy. They are currently scheduled for a headlining European tour from June to August.
In February, Pitchfork Media reported that the Black Kids had signed a recording contract with Almost Gold Recordings for territories outside of North America. On May 1, news broke that Black Kids had signed with Columbia Records in the U.S. While in the UK they recorded their debut album, Partie Traumatic, with producer Bernard Butler, former guitarist of Suede. Their first single, "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You", was released in the UK on April 7 and debuted at #11 on the UK Singles Chart. The band performed the song on the first ever fully live broadcast of Later... with Jools Holland on April 1. Their second single, "Hurricane Jane", is scheduled for UK release on June 23. On May 30th they performed the track live on BBC's Friday Night With Jonathan Ross. The album Partie Traumatic is set to be released on July 7 in the UK and July 22 in the US.

Ghosts are an indie/pop band from London and were 9th on the BBC's Sound Of 2007 poll. Before signing with Atlantic Records in November 2006 they were previously known as Polanski. Their sound can be compared to the likes of Keane, Thirteen Senses, The Bluetones and even Radiohead.
The band formed after meeting at school in Guildford.
Their first single "Stay the Night" began gaining national radio airplay in January 2007 on the Dermot O'Leary show on BBC Radio 2, and then on 9 February 2007, Ghosts made their first television appearance on The Friday Night Project.
On 22 February 2007, the members of Ghosts, three of their roadies and Claire Fowler were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after a hotel in York found their tour manager's room flooded from a broken toilet. They were all subsequently released without charge.
On 23 June 2007, they were selected to play as the 4th act on the main stage of London's Hyde Park Calling Festival, to be followed by The Feeling, Crowded House and Peter Gabriel.
On 21 July 2007, Ghosts were the chosen support act for Keane's last show in Britain for the Under The Iron Sea tour, at the O2 Arena in London.
In April 2008 it was announced that Ghosts would be releasing a new album and after writing new material they were starting to record some of it. The album is expected in early 2009.

Rooney is a five-piece rock band from Los Angeles signed to Geffen Records. The band is composed of: Robert Schwartzman, Louie Stephens, Taylor Locke, Ned Brower, and Matthew Winter. The band is named after principal Ed Rooney, from the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Their music is reminiscent of British Invasion rock and 1980s pop, and has been compared to The Beatles, The Cars and Blur. Having toured the nation with acts such as Weezer and The Strokes, Rooney's official website states that the band "manages to capture elements from the past four decades and make them sound modern today."

The band formed as Ed Rooney back in 1999. The original line up consisted of Teddy Briggs on drums and Matt Star on guitar. Ned Brower replaced Teddy as drummer, Matt Star left, and Louie Stephens was added as keyboardist. They released a series of independent EPs called Deli Meats (2000), Plug It In (2001), and Mastedonia (2002).
Eventually the band scored a recording deal with Geffen Records in 2002. After on May 20th, 2003. Album sales were slow until in 2004 when they had a cameo appearance in an episode of The O.C., "The Modle Home #2 and The Third Wheel #15 " where they sang the songs "Sorry Sorry" and "I'm a terrible person" . Their song "Blueside" was featured on the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 soundtrack and their song "I'm Shakin'" was featured on an episode of the daytime soap opera All My Children.
On November 16, 2004 the band issued their first DVD, Spit & Sweat. The hour long documentary features interviews with the band and live performances from Los Angeles. The DVD also includes the videos for "Blueside," "I'm Shakin'," and "If It Were Up to Me."
In late 2004, the band entered the studio to record tracks with producer Tony Hoffer for their second release. A spring 2005 release was planned. Initially it was announced The Kids After Sunset would be the album's title, however the band wasn't happy with the songs. Actual recordings from the Hoffer sessions were posted on the band's Myspace page later in 2005. These songs were "Radio," "Ain't Gonna Cut It," "Are You Through With Me," and "She's a Fool." Private demo versions of songs recorded of the Hoffer sessions were leaked onto the internet. Songs such as "One Armed Man," "Paralyzed," and "The Juice" had already been played live by the band. Fans began calling these private demos "The Lost Album."
Their song entitled "The Sleep Song," was included in the 2005 cult film The Chumscrubber and was subsequently searched out by many fans of the movie. The song was part of "The Lost Album."
In the fall of 2005, the band began a new attempt to a record an album, this time with producer Howard Benson. The album came very close to release. In the spring of 2006, the album was mastered, cover art was created, and a music video was even filmed for the lead single "Tell Me." However, again the album wasn't meant to be, as the label disagreed with the songs.
In the summer of 2006, Rooney toured the U.S. with Kelly Clarkson from late June to early August. It was revealed in Reuters on April 7, 2007, that Rooney had switched labels from Suretone Records to Cherrytree Records after being dropped by their management The Firm, but they were quickly picked up by Sound Management.
Following their summer tour, the band began their third sessions for a second album. Only three songs from the previous sessions ("Don't Come Around Again," "Paralyzed," and "Tell Me Soon"), were kept for their new album, Calling the World. On March 6, 2007, the single "When Did Your Heart Go Missing?" was released on their official MySpace. The single also was used in commercials of the tv show Beauty and the Geek, also the song "I'm a Terrible Person" was used in the commercial of Carolina Herrera's new fragance. The album was released to stores July 17, 2007 and debuted #42 on The Billboard Top 100 Albums chart.
Rooney was the opening act for the Jonas Brothers on the Look Me In The Eyes Tour from January 31, 2008 to March 22, 2008 for a total of 39 shows.
Rooney headed out on a headlining tour dubbed "The Calling the World Tour" in May 2008 in the United States, scheduled to run until August. The band has said during live shows that at the conclusion of this tour they are going to record a new album.

Nightmare of You is an indie rock band from Long Island, New York, featuring Brandon Reilly, formerly of The Movielife. They have toured both the US, and the UK both as a headline act and in support of other artists including AFI, Fall Out Boy, She Wants Revenge, Brand New and Circa Survive. They have previously been nominated for mtvU Woodie awards for Best Tour and Most Downloaded.
They were also the winners of Yahoo! Music's "Who's Next?" competition for the month of April 2006, a competition that has the potential to propel the winners into mainstream prominence. Past winners include My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, and Hinder.
The band originally self-released their debut album on their own label The Bevonshire Label, and licensed it to East West Records In the US and Full Time Hobby in the UK. In the Spring of 2007 The Bevonshire Label split with East West Records.
Three singles, with accompanying videos, were released from the self-titled album. The singles were "My Name Is Trouble", "The Days Go by Oh So Slow" and "I Want to Be Buried In Your Backyard". All three videos have been featured predominately on the Fuse TV shows Steven's Untitled Rock Show and Oven Fresh.
Their song "Dear Scene, I Wish I Were Deaf" was featured in the EA Sports, FIFA '07 video game.
They have been known to joke about other bands during their live shows, most notably 30 Seconds to Mars, but also including bands such as Panic! at the Disco and the Plain White T's.

Hellsongs saw the light of day in the early fall, 2004. They kickstarted with a premiere gig in a barn out on the countryside.
The threepiece managed to rehearse and arrange three songs and got cosmic response from the audience. Cheers and suggestions of new songs kept coming during the night and next show lurked around the corner. Was it the fresh air out in the countryside that made the band realise that they had something coming?
During the summer of 2005 Hellsongs were promoted by the lovely Heavy Metal radio show, Rundgång, sent on the swedish national channel - P3. People started to pay attention to the new branch on the metal tree – lounge metal. Hellsongs attracted even more fans when Rundgâng became a television program and featured a live recording of Run to the Hills.
Whitin these two years Hellsongs has also established themselves as a joyful and respectable live act. The word on the streets is that the shows often end with the audience singing happily together with the band, everyone holding arms and rocking back and forth like one big, happy family!
This year the Hellsingers will release their full length debut. So far the album will be released in the nordic countries, Japan and Russia.

The band met and played at Wigan and Leigh College (Railway Rd Campus) prior to this Walsh attended St Michaels CE High School in Chorley, Westhead attended high school in Wigan and Byrne and Stelfox went to school in Warrington.
Bassist James Stelfox and drummer Ben Byrne had been playing together in the north west of England for a number of years. When their regular singer fell ill, they recruited young singer and songwriter James Walsh from a school choir. He was influenced by Jeff Buckley and his 1994 album Grace in his singing style. Comparing it to Oasis' (What's the Story) Morning Glory? album, which Walsh says sums up a unique moment, 'Grace' captures 'every moment'.
The band, then named Waterface, had tried a number of guitarists before they asked long time friend Barry Westhead to join the band in 2000 on keyboards. He had been teaching Judo and playing organ for a church near his hometown. His arrival has been heralded as the most significant event in the band's formation. Walsh also took up the guitar, following frustration over not finding a musician right for the group. The band started to build up a reputation, and their name changed to Starsailor after the 1970 album Starsailor by Tim Buckley.
A journalist from NME saw a gig in 2000 and gave the band a glowing review. "One live encounter was enough to convince many sceptics that here was a band who were genuinely special, blessed with a singer whose voice thrummed like an emotional telegraph wire, that swerved the pitfalls of indie melancholia and were clearly in love with rock’n’roll and all its possibilities." Their performance at the Glastonbury Festival added to the band's reputation and led to a bidding war amongst UK record companies. The band signed with EMI in 2000.

The Sleepy Jackson formed in 1998 with the original lineup featuring Luke Steele (guitars/vocals), Jesse Steele (drums), and Matthew O’Connor (bass). This lineup recorded a self-titled debut and a subsequent single titled "Miniskirt". Both recordings were independently released. In 2000, as a result of non-musical commitments, Luke Steele suggested that his brother should redirect his attentions and concentrate on other happenings in his life which ultimately resulted in Jesse following his advice and departing the band.
The void created by Steele's departure was filled by Paul Keenan (who later drummed with Eskimo Joe at their live performances). Along with numerous shows in their hometown of Perth, in late 2000, The Sleepy Jackson toured nationally with Jebediah. In March 2001, on the eve of the band’s signing with EMI Records, the band toured with Magic Dirt and Motor Ace with Ronan Charles on keyboards joining Steele, O'Connor and Keenan. Five weeks into the tour, with the band broke, exhausted, and sleeping in caravan parks rather than enjoying the luxuries their touring partners were enjoying, O'Connor, Keenan and Charles quit leaving Steele to complete the tour solo.
In signing to EMI, pressure was soon placed on Steele to produce a recording. The result was a 2001 released EP titled Caffeine In The Morning Sun which Steele recorded in Sydney with a collection of session musicians. In addition to playing solo, Steele recruited drummer Malcolm Clark into The Sleepy Jackson fold and, when some serious touring was required in support of the release, the services of Justin Burford (Guitar) and Rodney Aravena (Bass) were enlisted. In addition to The Sleepy Jackson, Steele's three colleagues were also playing around their hometown with Jonathon Dudman under the name End Of Fashion.
The Sleepy Jackson relocated to Sydney where they recorded another EP, Let Your Love Be Love. Songs from this and past releases were put together to form a self titled mini album for release on the UK market. A period of extensive touring quickly followed which saw the band playing in Australia, The United States, and Europe. The later bought the band some very enthusiastic attention from UK music paper NME. In between live appearances, The Sleepy Jackson worked on recordings that were to become their debut album Lovers. During a series of UK appearances in 2003, Burford and Aravena left the band. With a support slot for Silverchair's Diorama tour looming back in Australia, replacements were quickly sought. Clarke ironically called upon the only other End of Fashion member not previously part of The Sleepy Jackson, Jonathon Dudman.
Dudman joined the band in Sydney where he took over bass duties and the second guitarist position was filled by session musician Ben Nightingale. The Sleepy Jackson's revolving door continued when Nightingale was ultimately replaced by Jonathon Dudman's brother, Julian Dudman. But the Dudmans consequently left the band leaving Luke Steele and Malcolm Clark as the only official members of The Sleepy Jackson.
The Sleepy Jackson released their second full length album Personality - One Was A Spider, One Was A Bird in Australia on July 1, 2006 where it debuted at No. 10 on the ARIA Albums Charts the following week. With its predecessor Lovers receiving generous support from both critics and radio alike, the band supported the new album's worldwide release with a series of live appearances in select markets. Joining Clark and Steele are Dave Symes and Felix Bloxsom, who both worked on the album, and Lee Jones who was formerly in Perth band Spencer Tracy.
The album was released in the United Kingdom on July 26th and in the United States on July 27th. In July 2006 the album was nominated for a J Award by Australian Radio Station, Triple J.
In 2007 The Sleepy Jackson performed at the 2007 Big Day Out, Southbound, Falls Festival and the St Jerome's Laneway festivals in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Luke Steele appeared on the Pnau single "With You Forever", leading Nick Littlemore to state on Pnau's website "...working with Luke Steele... it was amazing, that inspired us to work on a separate project with him all together. It's another album we're doing."

South was formed in London in 1998 and was originally conceived as an electronic act. The band was mentored by ex-Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown. South later worked under the tutelage of UNKLE's James Lavelle, who signed the band to his personal record label.
After a promo album, 'Overused' released in the US, South released their first official studio album entitled From Here On In. The popular song "Paint The Silence" was featured on The OC and The O.C. Mix 1 leading to a bigger fanbase in the US.
Next came their second album With The Tides in 2003 which offered many popular songs such as 'Colours In Waves' and 'Loosen Your Hold' before the band had a couple years break.
'A Place In Displacement', the first single from their third full album, was released early in 2006, followed by the album Adventures In The Underground Journey To The Stars', which came out on April 3 2006. A UK release followed on October 9, 2006.
The fourth album, You Are Here (South album) was released in late April 2008.

Priscilla Ahn had her start during her time at Tulpehocken Area High School, playing coffee houses and open mikes in the Bernville, Reading, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. She was given advice by a college music professor who recognized her skills to pursue a songwriting career instead of going to college, so she moved to Los Angeles about a year after graduating from high school.
After moving to Los Angeles, Priscilla Ahn toured with Joshua Radin, Meiko and Cary Brothers, sang on Amos Lee's album Supply and Demand, appeared on Last Call with Carson Daly with Joshua Radin and performed her song "Dream" on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Two of her songs were also featured on two episodes of Grey's Anatomy. Dream was also featured on the soundtrack to the movie Disturbia. She was also a part of the 2008 Hotel Cafe tour. Recently, she was the Artist of the Week for Paste Magazine.

Peter Von Poehl (Sweden)

Peter von Poehl is a Swedish singer-songwriter, composer, musician and director.
He was the guitarist for A.S. Dragon, once the backing band for Bertrand Burgalat and in Michel Houellebecq's album Présence humaine (2000). He has since collaborated with other artists, such as Doriand (Le Grand bain), Lio (Dites au prince charmant), Marie Modiano (I'm Not a Rose) and Florian Horwath (We Are All Gold), with whom he founded the Graeferecordings label in Berlin.
His first album, Going to Where the Tea-Trees Are, was published by the French label Tôt ou tard on 9 May 2006.
He has since produced Vincent Delerm s third album, Les Piqûres d'araignée (2006), in which he participates in one song, Marine. He is now on a long series of tours, most notably as the opening act for Phoenix (autumn 2006) and Air (spring 2007). He played at the Eurockéennes 2007 in Belfort.
His second album, May Day, has been announced for Fall 2008. He will play new songs from this album during a series of live shows in La Maroquinerie (Paris), at the beginning of July 2008.

"Give It Love" is a great debut from a band that takes musical cues from the Beatles and Radiohead, without mimicking any of them. Almost like a "deeper" Coldplay. Fans of melodic pop will be overjoyed. Strongly recommend this underground gem to any potential buyers. Highly recomend these guys =)

"They came out of nowhere. Blind Pilot’s debut album, 3 Rounds and a Sound, is incredible. The Oregon-based band is so new, that I couldn’t even find the titles to all of their songs, so I had to go by track numbers most of the time. Where to begin? With a beautifully smooth and harmonic flow, Israel and Ryan sound like professionals. Mainly relying on a rich acoustic flavor, the duo sing ballads on ostensibly different topics, though often touching on the issue of love. “I Buried a Bone” is incredibly catchy and simultaneously heartfelt. “Story I Heard” and tracks three and four are a shock to the senses, in that they are so perfect. I enjoyed every single song on this entire CD, which is a rarity. The same cannot be said for John Mayer and most of his contemporaries. Most of the songs and the band’s beautiful voices were accompanied by the guitar, ranging from full whispers to moderately loud singing. The surprise is that not only does every song work well, but every song is done simply, and works because of the simplicity of style, but richness of texture and composure of voice. I was listening to this CD when a friend came by. This friend is very picky when it comes to music, and within minutes, was trying to find out more about this incredible band. Unfortunately, there is little actually available online about the band, other than a MySpace page and a band Web site, which unfortunately was down when I tried to visit. I cannot wait for Blind Pilot to grow, because they frankly deserve it. This band gives all other popular acoustic rockers a true challenge — they are really, really good. Well played, sirs, well played!"

I Was a Cub Scout was originally a one-man band, consisting solely of Todd Marriott. Lacking a drummer, Marriott used a drum machine to create the sound. William Bowerman joined the band in mid 2006, and has played drums since.
The band spent about six months playing house parties and night clubs in England, their exposure gaining them some popularity. They have also maximized their exposure by touring extensively, playing in the 2007 Carling and Download Festivals, as well as embarking on a tour with DARTZ!
Four singles have been released, each of which has had considerable airplay.IWACS released their debut album, I Want You to Know That There Is Always Hope—produced by Hugh Padgham—in February 2008. The duo consider it to be their best work yet.
The band toured with Kill Hannah and ¡Forward Russia!, however they were forced to pull out of the Minus The Bear tour for undisclosed reasons.
The band toured in February, promoting the single "Pink Squares", and their debut album.
On 5th June 2008 it was confirmed by the band via a MySpace bulletin that they would be splitting. They will honour their tour commitments through June and July, with their show on July 14th being their last.

I discovered them last year, and I do only have their EP " Bear In The Attic" wich is so f***ing great ! Just listen to the title song on the ep " Bear In The Attic" and you will be in love with it !

Nelken, who works as a cremationist, had a longtime side career in music as a supporting musician for artists such as A. C. Seabird is an alternative rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio. The band formed when Aaron Morgan, Chris Kubick, and Aaron Hunt began playing songs with each other in 2004. After adding Morgan’s brother (Ryan) to play guitar, the band recorded their debut EP, “Spread Your Broken Wings and Try”, in one of the band member’s room. Their EP was passed to EMI Records and, after a personal showcase, the band was signed in 2005. However, a year later, the band switched from EMI Records to Credential Records, and has stayed since. They continued to record material for a possible studio album from 2006 through most of 2007 and released a second EP, "Let Me Go On", in mid-December 2007. This time, their second EP was used as a teaser for their upcoming debut studio album, "'Til We See the Shore", which was released on June 24, 2008.

The band formed in Annandale, Sydney, in 2004. The band started out as a project between lead vocalist Alex Burnett and drummer David Hall. The collaboration between the two wasn't considered serious until Jamie Davis, of British label Ark Recordings, heard their work when here for a friend's wedding. Burnett described the signing as a "fantasy story", saying "He basically signed us because of the songs and the vibe - he hadn't even seen us live". More luck ensued as Davis played some of their demos for friend Ben Hillier, co-producer of British indie rock band Elbow's second album, Cast of Thousands, as well as working with the likes of Blur, Doves, The Horrors and Depeche Mode. Hillier willingly put his hand up to produce the album.
They first came into prominence in Australia with their debut EP titled Things Behind the Sun. The EP was released in Australia on February 20, 2007. Since then they've played alongside the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Ben Lee, The Bravery and Tegan & Sara, as well as a UK tour with The Thrills, Jimmy Eat World and Vampire Weekend.
Sparkadia's debut studio album Postcards, was released on May 31, 2008.The band's first album peaked at #23 on the ARIA albums chart. With the song "Too Much to Do" being released as a single, receiving airplay on Australian radio station Triple J. The song is one of three that has received high rotation on the station.

Captain Phoenix are a London based indie rock band, originally form Winchester. The band formed in 2004 before signing to indie label Kind Canyon. They have since released four singles:- 'Living On The Guestlist', 'Pistols And Hearts' (No. 29 - BBC Indie Chart), 'Loneliness' and 'Stand By'. The band have had critical acclaim from such publications as NME, The Sunday Times and The Daily Star. They have also had exposure on BBC Radio 2 from both Dermot O'Leary and Steve Lamacq.
Lead singer Ben Burrows is younger brother to Andy Burrows, drummer of Razorlight. They supported Razorlight at a secret gig at The Railway Inn, Winchester when Razorlight previewed second album material.
Captain Phoenix have toured the UK extensively, and toured Japan for the first time in November 2007. They supported The Kooks for three dates at the end of January 2008, as part of the warm up tour for their upcoming album Konk.

Thank you England ! This country just explode of wonderful bands right now ! The latest is " Fear Of Music" with their debut cd " Actor/Actress". This is my favorite CD right now =) And some fact about the band then ?

Fear of Music are a four-piece indie/alternative band from Manchester, England. They formed in 2001 as a threesome consisting of Jo Rose (vocals/guitar), Ali Esmaail (bass) and Chris Stanley (drums). Mike Ward joined the band in 2003 as an additional guitarist after being introduced to the other two members by Rose.
They signed to Sony/BMG Records in 2005 and are managed by Nettwerk Management.
Their 2006 release, entitled Fast.Faster.Fastest. EP, was produced by acclaimed music producer John Leckie who has produced albums by Radiohead and The Stone Roses among other artists.
They are named after an LP by the band Talking Heads.
In February 2007 the band released the We Are Not The Enemy EP. Which was produced by Dimitri Tikovoi. Who has worked with bands such as Placebo, Hope of the States and The Horrors. He was then called upon to record the bands debut album, which is now finished and waiting for a release.
In May 2007 they toured with the Manic Street Preachers for six dates.
In September 2007 Chris left the band. He is still on good terms with the band and they are currently rehearsing with a new drummer, Rick Morgan.
Throughout mid 2007 the band worked on their debut album, Actor/Actress with Dimitri Tikovoi. The album will be released in stores on August the 11th, but can be brought from the website now. The first single is First to Go which has a release date of June the 2nd and will be available in CD, 7" and downloadable form.
Along with filming a video for First to Go, one was also made for Better Living Through Chemistry, making this the next likely single release.

They toured with Kaiser Chiefs at the end of 2007.
It was announced on the 1st November 2007 that drummer Michael Tapper would be leaving the band prior to their UK tour. He has not been replaced. Instead, the band has continued to operate as a duo with supporting musicians.

Lovely new Indie band here ! The Little Ones is an indie pop band based in Los Angeles, California. They were previosuly signed to Astralwerks Records and released one EP on that label, titled Sing Song. In 2006, Matt Costa invited them to open for him at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City, which has brought them in a rise to fame. Unfortunatley they lost their recording contract early in 2008 and were forced to postpone an upcoming album. Instead they released a new EP on Branches Recording Collective, entitled Terry Tales & Fallen Gates
The Little Ones' indie pop tunes, which feature tambourines and handclaps, have garnered them comparisons to 1960s pop bands such as The Beach Boys, The Zombies, The Kinks, modern-day pop group The Shins and the Elephant Six collective. They will release their debut album " Morning Tide " this summer !!

I discovered this band yesterday. I must say that they have a awesome sound, and I really think they are gonna be quite big =)
Royworld are an English Rock band formed at Goldsmiths, University of Londonin 2006 when songwriting brothers Rod and Crispin Futrille stuck an advert up on the college notice board. Robert Parkin and Timmy Miles met at St. Aidan's & St. John Fisher Associated Sixth Form in Harrogate, where their journey together began. The two duos came together after the advert was answered by Gerry Morgan and Tim Miles. Miles' friend, Rob Parkin, then completed the line-up.Soon after forming they began to play gigs around London at venues including Dublin Castle, The Barfly and The Hope And Anchor. They had managed to attract the attention of several record labels, including Fierce Panda Records, who released their single "Elasticity" via their Club Fandango imprint in December 2007 and Virgin Records to whom they would eventually sign.Their first single on Virgin Records, "Dust," which was released on the 19th of May which reached #29 in the UK singles chart. Their debut album is set to be released in early June 2008 and has been produced by Andy Green (Keane, The Feeling and Scouting For Girls )- I highly recomend this CD!

Steadman is a British indie rock band, formed in Hastings in 1998. The band's original name was The Dharmas, but they changed the name after they canceled their contract with the label Arista, and signed with lead singer Simon Steadman's own label, Freeloader Recordings. Steadman's first album, Loser Friendly, was released in the United Kingdom in 2000. Steadman's sound is clearly influenced by the Britpop-bands Oasis and Radiohead. The band has also been compared to Richard Ashcroft's band The Verve.

SLUT is a awesome indie /Rock group from Deutchland. I first discovered them when I heard their " Still No.1" witch is a awesome CD. They have this sound I really like. I have 3 Cd's with them now, and they are better and better each time I listen to them. I really hope that they will come to Sweden sometime for a gig! That would be so awesome !

Republic Tigers are a rock band from the USA. The band was formed in Kansas City, Missouri by Kenn Jankowski and Adam McGill. I first heard them on " Grey's Anatomy" with their song "Buildings And Mountains", witch is one of the best songs I know right now! You can listen to it on repeat over and over again, and not get tired of it. I highly recomend this group, they are awesome! I promise you, you won't be disseapointed=)

Roger Joseph Manning Jr. is a keyboard player and founding member of bands Jellyfish, Imperial Drag, Moog Cookbook, and TV Eyes. He has also spent several years as an integral member of Beck's backing band, and made contributions to several recordings by the band Air. In early 2006, Manning released his long-awaited first solo album in Japan only. That album, Solid State Warrior, was eventually issued in the U.S. under a different title The Land Of Pure Imagination, along with an altered song content. In March 2008, Manning released his second solo album in Japan only. That albums name is Catnip Dynamite. Love both these albums !

Your Vegas are an English rock band from Leeds,UK.The bands debut album, A Town And Two Cities, is released in the US on April 22. It has already been released on itunes and I highly recomend this album! I've listened to it for a few days now, and It get better and better each time! Love " It Makes My Heart Break " and " In My Head ". But the whole album is a top 10 album! If you like Ony Night Only and stuff like that, you WILL like this cd to!

Dreamboy is Ludwig Bell,Richard Brattlund,Fredrik Hultgren,Niklas Pettersson and Fredrik Swahn from Solna, Sweden. They make this wonderful Powerpop/indie music I really like. I missed them when they had a concert here in town a few months ago, and I really hope that they will come back for a gig soon again !
